MORRINSVILLE CRICKET

MEETING OF CLUB The annual meeting of the Morrinsville Cricket Club was held on Saturday. The following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr. S. S. Allen: president, Rev. J. H. Starnes; vicepresidents, Messrs. R. C. Allen, George Howie, D. D. Dendy and W. R. Lowry; secretary and treasurer, Mr. William McPherson; committee, Messrs. Aitken, Jones and Banks; captain, Mr. A. M. Humphries; vice-captain, Mr. W. Aitken; delegates to Piako Cricket Association, Messrs. A. M. Humphreys and P. S. Philpott. The club’s delegates to the association were instructed to support the restriction of matches to one day and the revision of play ing hours to 7 p.m. during the period of daylight saving. They were also instructed to object to postponement of matches on account of race meetings. It was decided to make a donation to the Morrinsville Croquet Club, which had generously allowed the club during the last season to use a portion of its property for a practice wicket.
