GARAGE GOSSIP

Mr. W. J. Harrison Jr. has assumed active partnership in the firm of Harrison and Gash, “Morris” Distributors. Newmarket, on the retirement of his father. During the last two years Mr. Harri-

son has been working with the N.S.W. “Morris” distributors in Sydney, an organisation selling 300 to 400 cars a month. • • • Mr. G. Campbell, of Dominion Motors, Ltd., has just celebrated the first anniversary of his work as lecturer on motoring at IYA, Auckland. His lectures on Friday evenings deal with touring reminiscences, short talk on driving and repairs, motor trade items and motorists’ experiences. All motorists are recommended to hear him. GOOD BRAKES IMPORTANT Brakes are the most important part of an automobile. Without an engine the car would be useless, but without brakes it is worse than useless. It then becomes a destructive force, dangerous alike to life and property. Brakes should be maintained in repair always. If they are not right, have, them inspected by a man who knows his business. If they need adjustment, have the work done immediately. If the lining is worn thin, have the brakes relined without delay. If it is glazed and the rivets stick through it, so that they bear on the brake drum, have them countersunk below the surface of the lining. It is a good idea to regularly tighten up every screw in sight on the car. An agreeable surprise will follow when next the car is used —many of the usual annoying squeaks will have disappeared.
