ROTORUA RUGBY
PERPETUAL FORESTRY WIN Before a good attendance and in bright sunshine—a pleasant change after so many miserable cold and showery days—the New Zealand Perpetual Forestry team again tried conclusions with Rotorua. Prior to the game each team had a win. Rotorua was unable to field its strongest 15, both Mamaku and Rotoiti players beine' unable to take the field. Perpetual Forestry had a big advantage in the forwards, being over two stone on an average heavier than the local pack. Its backs indulged in many spectacular passing movements, pleasing the onlookers. Rotorua was unfortunate to have its star back, Simmonds, very badly injured as a result of an accidental collision. He sustained severe Goncussion and had to be conveyed to King George V. Hospital, where he still remains an inmate. Fortunately, he is making good progress toward recovery. Up to the time of the accident he was the best back on the field. Another Rotorua player, Corlett, sustained a broken bone in the hand.
For Perpetual Forestry Kiwi Corbett and Tem Morrison played well in the backs, while Maniapoto (2). Haira and Waretiu were the best of a great pack. The latter opened up play on every occasion possible, giving his backs endless opportunities of annexing points. Of the Rotorua team Davies shone in defence, while Mason, Sharpe and E. Parsons toiled hard in the forwards. The game resulted: New Zealand Perpetual Forestry 25, Rotorua 9.
