PLOT TO MURDER KING AND PREMIER
SPANISH POLICE UNEARTH BOMBS AND CONSPIRACY By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright MADRID, Sunday. The Spanish police have discovered a widespread revolutionary plot and a conspiracy to assassinate King Alfonso and the the Prime Minister, General Primo de Rivera. It is stated that 100 bombs were found. Several persons have been arrested, including- the Republican leaders, Marcelino, Domingo, Baldomero and de Zama. Some prominent generals addressed a representation to the King urging the restoration of the old regime. They said that as the Moroccan problem, which had constituted the raison-detre of the Directorate, no longer existed there was no object in retaining the Dictatorship. Great excitement was caused by the publication of a leaflet by the former Conservative Prime Minister, Seno.r Sanchez Guerra, denouncing King Alfonso for having “assisted in the setting up of a despotism, which past generations fought to overthrow.” Senor Guerra has left Spain and other prominent men intend to follow his example.—A. and N.Z.
