Pukekohe Pioneer.—Mrs*. Jane Edwards Wright, an old pioneer of Pukekohe, has jyst passed away at the age of 87. She came to New Zealand 62 years ago in the ship Bombay. Fire At Waihou. —An outbreak of fire at Waihou on Friday night destroyed a large cowshed on the property of Mr. A. Hazelton. There was £2OO insurance on the building. Chimney Fire. —A chimney lire in a large thr«* 2-storeyed house at 86 Hobson Street, owned by Mr. Wesley and occupied by Mr. Ft. Smiley, was easily extinguished yesterday by the City Brigade. No damage was done. Milk Expert’s Tour. —The Wellington City Courcil has decided to send Mi. R. IS. Herron, manager of the milk department, to North America and Great Britain to inquire into the latest ideas and plant for the treatment of milk and factory layout. Old Man’s Ribs Broken. —Mr J. Wakeley, aged 60, of 20 Aickeri Terrace, Glenmore. had several ribs broken - through being knocked down by a mo-tor-car at the corner of Eden Terrace and Dominion Road, on Saturday evening. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he is progressing favourably.
