The manager of a plantation in the Solomon Islands, Mr. Lynch, who has arrived in Sydney, reports that a native, in revenge for a beating he had received, attacked Mr. J. L. Cameron, a planter’s assistant, and after render :ing him unconscious with a stone, dispatched him with a tomahawk. Later the murderer’s remains were found hanging by a rope from a small boat in a creek. The lower portion of the body had been devoured by crocodiles. Mr. Lynch also said some Chinese had been murdered as a sacrifice by a tribe of natives. The murderers were later captured, and one of them had already been hanged. —A. and N.Z.
