CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOUR
35TH ANNUAL CONVENTION A successful rally of members of the Auckland Provincial Christian Endeavour Union was held in the East Street Mission Hall on Saturday afternoon, when more than 600 young people met for the 35th annual convention of the union. The Rev. E. Nicholls presided. Several enjoyable choral numbers were given under the baton of Mr. H. B. Bristow. those rendered by the Onehunga Methodist Society and the Beresford Street Congregational Societv being particularly well received. The Rev. E. Polgrave Davy, superintendent of the New Zealand Children’s Mission, gave an interesting address entitled “The Happy Letters of the Alphabet.” Beresford Street won the shield tor the greatest increase in membership, and the “new societies” shield was awarded to the Dominion Road Methodist Society. The induction of the new president, the Rev. A. S. "Wilson, and the newlyelected officers, took place at BeresI ford Street Church in the evening, I when the retiring president, the Rev. i E. Nicholls, spoke. A banquet is to i be held in the Pitt Street Methodist Church hall this evening, and a reunion of past and present members v,-ill take place in the Beresford Street Congregational Church at the same time.
