MOTOR INSURANCE
SOUTH ISLAND UNION MEETS ( Specie! to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The* annual meeting of the South Island Motor Union Mutual Insurance Association was held to-day. The chairman of directors, Mr. W. R. Carey, said it was pleasing to note they had got through the year with such a small loss ratio. One point was the payment of commission, £1,228. This had been questioned by some members, but he would l.ike to say that included salaries, etc., of the chief agents. He reported that for the three months dating from June 30 the amount of busin3ss done totalled £2,002, as compared with £1,265 for the corresponding period last year. This year’s sum did not include the premiums due at the end of September, which it would be safe to assume would total about £3OO. It would appear that the association’s business had practically doubled itself. Tht retiring directors, Messrs. W. R. Carey and H. C. Harley, were reelected, and with Mesrs. A. E. Ansell, B. Falck and W. L. Minson, will constitute the directorate for the ensuing year.
