BOLD PROPOSAL BY A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW FOR AUCKLAND A BOLD move to make the Auckland A. and P. Show the premier show of the North Island was made at a general committee meeting of the association held to-day. It was decided that all championships in the breeding classes, with the exception of horses, awarded at forthcoming shows, be called North Island championships. The question was brought up by Mr. C. W. Anderson, who contended that the time had come to boost up the Auckland Show. Such a proposal would give breeders an incentive to come to Auckland and would make the show the show at which all North Island finals could be decided. Considerable opposition was aroused by the proposal, members contending that it would cause trouble among other shows in the North Island. The motion was carried, and it was decided to leave the question of the allocation of the special prize money in the hands of a sub-committee.
