The Spirit of Cricket
Jl SPLENDID spirit of sportsmanship teas evidenced at the annual meeting of the Auckland Cricket Association when the trophies won last season loere being presented. North Shore, Y.M.C.A. and Akarana had tied for the second grade championship and the association was faced with a pretty problem to decide who should take possession of the Walker and Hall Cup. The matter was, however , settled for the association i?i a manner that was as pleasing as it was unexpected. In turn y the North Shore and Y.M.C.A. delegates rose and said that their clubs had other trophies , and they would like to see the Cup go to Akarana, the youngest of the triumvirate of championship winners. In returning thanks, the Akarana delegate said it was his club's first year in the grade, and it deeply appreciated the sporting action of the other two clubs.
