TOFUA FOR AUCKLAND. —The Union Company advises that the Island passenger steamer Tofua leaves Suva at 4 p.m. to-day for Auckland, where she is due next Monday. HUIA FOR AUCKLAND. —The Nobel Explosives Company’s auxiliary schooner Hula left Sydney on Tuesday for Brisbane to complete unloading explosives from Melbourne. After discharge she will load general cargo at Rockhampton for Auckland. She should arrive here about September 20. CANADIAN CHALLENGER BACK. — The Canadian Challenger arrived back at Auckland early this morning from southern ports to complete loading for her Homeward trip. The local office of the Canadian Government agency hopes to dispatch her at noon to-morrow for Halifax, via New York and Boston. M ARYYLAN D REPORTS. —En route from Java to Auckland, the tramp steamer, Maryland, lias reported by wireless that she will arrive here on Monday a f tern on next. She has a cargo of raw sugar for the Chelsea Sugar Works, and discharges here to the agency of Messrs. Robert Millar and Co. SYDNEY STEAMERS. —The Maheno sails from Auckland at 11 a.m. to-mor-row for Sydney and the Marama leaves Wellington at 3 p.m. for the same port. The Ulimaroa sails from Sydney at noon to-morrow for Auckland. All the vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning. AORANGI FROM VANCOUVER. —En route from Vancouver via Honolulu the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi is due at Suva next Thursday and at Auckland on Sunday, October 9. She leaves here the following day for Sydney. CARGO FOR ISLANDS.— -The local office of the Union Company have been advised that the cargo steamer Wairuna leaves Sydney next Tuesday for Suva, Vancouver and San Franciso. The vessel is taking cargo from Sydney for transhipment to the Tofua at Suva for Tonga and Samoa. WELLINGTON-PICTON SERVICE. The local office of the Union Company have been advised that the ferry steamer Tamahine will resume her running in the Wellington-Picton service on Monday next, when she will replace the Ngaio now engaged in the service. GUNBAR LOADING PORTS. —The Gunbar leaves Gisborne to-night and is expected at Auckland on Saturday, when she will load for East Coast bays, Gisborne and Napier. Owing to Te Araroa being unworkable, cargo will be landed at Hicks Bay for this place. Spedding, Ltd., hope to dispatch the Gunbar at noon on Monday. WESTMORELAND AT NEW PLYMOUTH.—Now at New Plymouth loading, the Federal steamer Westmoreland leaves to-morrow for Wellington and Auckland to complete. The New Zealand Shipping Company, the local agents, expect the vessel to arrive here on October 6, and she is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on October 8 for London, via Panama. SCHOONER PIRI DISCHARGING. — The Nobel auxiliary schoner Piri which arrived at mid-day yesterday from Melbourne, via Greymouth and Westport, anchored off Tamaki to complete unloading explosives from Australia. The vessel will come to Auckland this evening and berth at King’s Wharf. She is scheduled to sail early next week with explosives for New Plymouth, Westport, Greymputh, Wellington and Dunedin. From Dunedin she will return to Auckland with produce. TUTANEKAI IN PORT. —An arrival at Auckland yesterday afternoon, was the New Zealand Government steamer, Tutanekai from East Coast lighthouses. The vessel attended to all the lighthouses and beacons on the east coast as far as Cuvier Island, but the bad weather during the past few days interrupted the work in the Hauraki Gulf. Captain J. Bollons is in command and associated with him are the following officers: —Chief, Mr. G. M. Simpson; second, Mr. H. Williams third, Air. J. Johnson: wireless operator, Mr. A. H. Clarke; chief engineer, Air. W. Peterson; second, Air. A. Jackson; third. Air. H. [Bower; fourth, Air. AT. Sullivan; chief steward, Air. J. Waters.
The collier Hikurangi went alongside the Tutanekai this morning to replenish her bunkers. After taking on stores, the lighthouse steamer is to leave Auckland early to-morrow morning for Northern and West coast lighthouses.
HINEMOA FOR NIUE ISLAND.— Spedding, Ltd., advise that the Government steamer Hinemoa will leave Auckland at 5 p.m. on Saturday for Niue Island. Cargo is being: received this afternoon and up trll noon to-morrow. TREWORLAS FOR BUNKERS—The tramp steamer Treworlas, which has been discharging New York cargo at New Zealand ports, left Dunedin yesterday for Westport for bunkers, before proceeding to Nauru Island to load phosphates for Australia. MIDDLESEX'S MOVEMENTS.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Middlesex leaves Lyttelton to-morrow for Timaru. thence Auckland and Wellington, to complete her loading. She is due here on October 10, and sails finally from Wellington on October 22 for London, via Panama. TAINUI POSTPON ED.—Due at Wellington to-day from Napier, the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Talnul wll complete her loading there, and now finally depart, at daybreak next Tuesday, for Southampton and London, via Panama, according io advice received by the local agents, L. D. Nathan and Company. MATAROA'S ITINERARY.-A. S. Paterson and Company advise that the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Mataroa will leave Auckland to-morrow afternoon for Port Chalmers, where she completes her discharge of London cargo, and commences loading for her return voyage. She will also load at Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier, and Auckland. The Mataroa is due back here on October 24, and is scheduled to clear this port finally on October 2S, at daybreak, for Southampton and London, via Panama. PAKEHA LEAVES NEWCASTLE. — According to cable advice received, the Shaw, Savill. and Albion steamer Pa.keha left Newcastle this morning for Wanganui, where she is due on Monday to commence loading for Home. Her other loading ports are Lyttelton, Timaru, Fort Chalmers, Bluff, and Wellington, and she is expected to clear the latter port on October 28 for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. KIA ORA FROM HOME. —With cargo from West of Great Britain ports, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Kia Ora, arrived in the stream at Auckland shortly before noon to-day and berthed thi'eequarters of an hour later at Queen’s Wharf to commence discharge. The vessel loaded general merchandise at Glasgow and Liverpool, and sailed finally from the last-named port on August 20. She experienced the usual three days’ bad weather out from Liverpool, rough seas and strong winds compelling her to reduce speed for twelve hours. Colon was reached on the evening of September 5, and transit through the canal granted the next morning. Up till two days ago fine weather was experienced, but nearing the New Zealand coast strong southwesters (the equinoctial gales) were encountered, delaying the Kia Ora’s arrival by about six hours. Captain A. Mclntosh is in command and the following are his officers:—Chief, , Mr. A. Black; second, Mr. A. H. Hyde; third, Mr. E. A. Hickling; wireless operator, Mr. S. Nolan; surgeon. Dr. P. Murphy; chief engineer, Mr. F. Harvey; second, Mr. W. Matthews; third, Mr. A. English; fourth, Mr. G. Pope; fifth, Mr. P. Campbell; sixth, Mr. S. Fraser; seventh, Mr. G. Birchenhough; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr. D. Findlay; second, Mr. S. Robinson; chief steward, Mr. A. Watts. The local agents, L. D. Nathan and Co., advises that they hope to dispatch the Kia Ora in about a week for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge. She will then load in the South and return to Auckland to fill up with frozen meat, dairy produce and general cargo for Canada and England. She is scheduled to sail finally from Auckland on November 8 for Halifax and London.
