PEDIGREE CATTLE SALES DEMAND FOR JERSEYS ANNUAL WAIKATO FIXTURE (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Wednesday. Keen competition for Jerseys was met with at the "Waikato combined breeders* 12th annual pedigree sale, which commenced at Claudelands to-day. There was a large attendance and Jerseys predominated in a catalogue listing over 400 animals. Also included was a choice selection of Shorthorns, also Friesians, Ayrshires and Red Polls. There was a keen demand for two-year-old Jerseys, 34 averaging 39 gns. Among these was the highest-priced bull of the day. Marshlands General, sold on behalf of W. J. Chyonweth. of Pukeroro, to McCheyne Murray, of Frankton, for 68 gns. The demands for yearling Jerseys was also good. The average price for the SO sold was 255 gns. Among the best prices realised among the Jersey bulls were:—Poneke Flirte Laddie, sold on account of C. S. Leggett. Motumaoho. 57 gns.; Marshlands Silver Chief, W. Chynoweth, 56 gns.; Marshlands Minent Chief, Chynoweth, 55 gns.; Marshlands Sherwood, Chynoweth, o\ gns:; Marshlands Golden Prince, Chvnoweth, 53 gns.; Merton’s Master, E. Barker, Wardville, 50gns.; Marshlands Record Chief, Chynoweth, 50 gns.; Marshlands Royal Prince, Chynoweth, 48 gns.; Korokoro Commander, Southee and Sons. Kiwitahi. 48 gns.; Korokoro Masterful, Southee and Sons, 46 gns.; Korokoro Hard Shot. Southee and Sons, i 5 gns.; Marshlands Favourite. Chynowth, 44 gns.; Oaklands Combination, R. R. The top price realised for Shorthorns was 26 guineas, paid for Matangi Frederick 27th, a yearling, s~id on behalf of Ranstead Bros., Matangi. Forty-eight Shorthorn bulls realised an average price of 113 gns. Friesian bulls brought up to 22 gns. There ivas a small offering of choice Red Polls, which made up to 2o gns for two-year-old animals. PIRI LAND COMPANY'S FRIESIANS Surplus pedigTee Friesians of the Firi Lands Company were disposed of at the company's annual sale held at Orini on Tuesday. The majority of the offering comprised young cattle, and the 83 sold averaged 193 gns. Two-year-old heifers averaged 203 sens the yearlings 163 gns., and the cows 143 gns. Twenty-one bulls were offered and averaged 26 gns. Totara Motherland Supremacy was passed in at 100 gns., but twice the amount was wanted. Totara hylvia Senator was bought bv TV r> Robinson of Whitianga, for 66 gns., and Totara Domino Magnate was sold to V H. Graveson, of Te Puke, for 52 gns. SOUTHERN EXCHANGES Press Association.
