TE AWAMUTU BOROUGH
RETICULATION PLAN WANTED The fortnightly meeting of the Te Awamutu Borough Council took place on Monday evening. There were present: Councillors *G. Spinley (deputyMayor, in the chair), W. Swain, J. Marshall, W. J. North, J. C. Montefiore, C. A. Reilly, C. Bygrave, and J. G. B. Gifford. The secretary of the Te Awamutu Fire Board wrote asking to be supplied with a plan of the reticulation of the borough. Information was also wanted regarding the condition of the fire plugs, and a request was made that in future the council post up permits for lighting fires in the borough. The correspondence was referred to the engineer for a report. It was decided to order 700 feet of steel piping from Duthie, Bridson, and Company for the water extension in Bridgman Street. The price was the second lowest, but the lowest was for a French article, whereas tlie one accepted was British. It was decided to accept a tender for the supply of 100 tons of bitumen from the British Imperial Oil Company, at £7 7s ex ship f.o.r. Auckland. In response to a deputation from the Plunket Society, asking for the council’s assistance by way of a low rental for the town hall, it was decided after discussion to donate half the fees. ■ The Waipa Rugby Union asked if the Domain Board would top-dress No. 1 football ground in Albert Park. It was agreed to supply the manure, the union agreeing to do the work.
