PAPATOETOE SCHOOL

INCREASED ATTENDANCE Since the beginning of the year, the Papatoetoe Public School roll has increased bj/’ 100, the present number of pupils at the main and side schools being 605. On account of the rapid increase shown lately, the Education Board appointed an extra assistant, at .he .request of the School Committee. In accord with all the schools of the surrounding districts, the accommodation is severely overtaxed, and extra rooms are urgently needed. The department has been approached on the question, and recognises the need of more classrooms, but up to the present nothing has been done. The health of the pupils is good, and satisfe.ctory progress is being made with their studies. It is intended to hold a garden fete and show of work at the school at the end of the year.
