Ranger for Papakura.—Papakura has appointed a ranger at a salary of 10s it week and fees. The village green is to be used as a temporary pound. Burials at Onehunga.—During the past fortnight interments in the Cnehunga cemeteries numbered 35 at Hillsborough and 11 at Waikaraka. Cricket in Cook Is ands. —An echo of the New Zealand cricketers’ doings in England has evidently reached the Cook Islands. The Wellington Association has received a letter from one, Eloili Benioni, of Aitutaki, excellently written, but couched in quaint English, begging for a book of instructions and rules, as the islanders want to improve their cricket. It was decided to send some literature on the subject.— Press Association. Onehunga Cattle Traffic.—Acting upon legal opinion received from the Municipal Association, Onehunga Borough Council last evening decided that no action be taken to amend existing by-laws dealing with cattle driving through the borough. The council has. however, instructed the inspector and ranger to exercise the strictest supervision possible in regard to cattle being driven through the district.
