Born in Victoria, Australia, he studied medicine in Melbourne and passed his examinations in brilliant fashion. About 24 years ago he came to Auckland and was attached to the resident medical staff of the Auckland Hospital for four years, and during his last two years there was senior resident officer in charge. Dr. Walshe was then appointed medical superintendent of the Thames Public Hospital, continuing in that position for nearly 13 years. He left Thames and came to Auckland about seven years ago and went into private practice. A prominent Mason, Hr. Walshe was a past grand master of the Sir Walter Scott Lodge, Thames, and was also an officer of the Hauraki Chapter. In his younger days Hr. Walshe was prominent in atletics.
