“LA MASCOTTE”
ANOTHER FOUR NIGHTS Interest continues to centre in the revival of “La Mascotte” by members of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society at His Majesty’s Theatre. This charming comic opera will be staged for another four nights. Though an ambitious effort, the society has made a success uf “La Mascotte,” and the attendances bear witness to the popularity of the old favourite, in which many actresses and actors have won recognition. The good music in the opera is played by a first-class orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr. Colin Muston. Mr. Dan Flood, as Laurent XVII., and Mr. G. C. Lyttelton as Rocco the farmer, supply the comedy element. Miss Eva Simson as Bettina, and Mr. Ernest Snell, as Pippo, play their parts exceptionally well. Others in the cast include Miss Beryl Poulton, Mr. Birrell O’Malley, Miss Doreen D’Autherau, Miss Miri Bragato, Miss Jean Macindoe and Miss Eileen Brodie. A feature of the performance of “La Mascotte” is the dancing of Miss Bettina Edwards.
