RUGBY MATCH AND SPORTS MEETING
UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS Next Saturday Ponsonby will play Grammar Old Boys in a benefit match, half the proceeds -going to the unemployment fund and half to the William Cunningham fund. It is also intended to hold a sports meeting on the Domain on November 5 in aid of the fund. The Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association held a meeting last evening, and agreed to join with affiliated clubs to organise an athletic demonstration and to apply for the use of the Domain cricket ground on that date. The whole of the proceeds will be handed over to the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund. Another benefit in view is a dance to be held in the Town Hall. A musical comedy company is to begin a tour of the suburbs. The first show will be at Point Chevalier on September 26, and the company will appear at Henderson on September 27. at Northcote on September 28, and at Manurewa on September 29. Picture "tickets for O’Brien’s Theatres are also being sold in aid of the funds.
