KOWHAI HIGH SCHOOL
CHANGES IN STAFF BETTER PAY ELSEWHERE Mr. A. A. Buckley, chairman of the Kowhai Junior High School Committee, at a meeting this week, commented strongly on the frequent changes in the teaching staff, consequent on teachers accepting better-paid positions. Such changes were not in the best interests of the school, he said. The problem was deferred for fuller discussion at the next meeting.
Mr. J. Fawce .t, the acting-head-master, inquired regarding the utilisation of areas fronting Onslow Road for additional playing fields. The secretary said the Education Board had replied stating that the question of fencing these sections had been referred to the department.
Leave of absence to prepare for some examinations were granted the secretary, Mrs. E. W. Wilson, and Mr. E. Page was appointed to act in the interval.
A letter of thanks and appreciation is to be sent to Mr. Slavin, one of the masters, who had organised squads of boys to improve the grounds. The treasurer reported that the ground improvement fund stood at about £ 45.
