SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TRAMWAYS BEATEN A senior championship match was played at the Outer Domain la>>t on- j ing. when Y.M.C.A. defeated Tramways j by 2 goals to 0. Tramways attacked early on thf i right, but Bach cleared. Bridges and Humphries were prominent for Y.M.C.A.. and Riddolls missed a tin scoring chance. Keeping up tlie pressure, Y.M.C.A. had the Tramways defence hard pressed A free kick was awarded to Y.M.C.A . Otter’s drive struck the crossbar \ tine effort by Riddolls just failed _••'**y having to concede a corner * " C.A. was not to be denied, and fr m t»m resultant kick Humphries headed through. Tramways retaliated, a clever shot by Spencer almost succeeding. Y.M.C.A. then took up the attack. A shot by Humphries just grazed the upright. and a minute Batty cleared with little to spare. Strong day bv Tinkler put Tramways on the r.tt.n and Paton was fortunate in clearing. Half-time was called with the score: Y.M.C.A., 1: Tramways. 0 Tramways attacked on resuming Pretty between Spencer and Fyfe threatened danger until Otter cleared. From a free kick in a good position Spencer’s attempt went wide, and a determined run by Sinim bad Paton extended to save a score, j Y.M.C.A. carried play to the Tramways ( territory, where Bridges neatly heat Watson, and gave Batty no chance , with a good shot. Tramways made strenuous efforts to , reduce the leeway, but the Y.M.C.A. defence was sound, and the match ended with the score: Y.M.C-A , -:| Tramways. 0. INTER- HOUSE FINAL The final match was to have been played at Blandford Park yesterday between the Farmers’ Trading Company and Auckland Power Board, but 1 was postponed owing to the state of the ground, and may bj decided next week.
