PROTEST AGAINST JEWISH HALL SCHEME
“LAND IS PUBLIC RESERVE”
The decis on of the Auckland City Council to effer no opposition to the scheme to place a communal memorial hall on portion of the cemetery land in Karangahape Road, previously allotted to thes Hebrew community, has not been allowed r.o pass without protest.
The Protestant Political Association last evening, at a meeting of the combined Auckland groups, strongly protested against the decision. A motion expressing strong disapproval of the council’ll attitude, and holding tha: the land was a public reserve, and should not be touched, was passed, and copies will be forwarded to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the City Council.
