WHO COUNTED THEM?
DEER ON RANGITOTO The Rangitoto Domain Board (which is the Devonport Borough Council) received a report last evening from the deer-stalking parties which were invited to go to the island to exterminate the de>er which were alleged to be numerous there and destroying the native trees. One party shot six head: another party in three days saw thr€ i e and shot one, and it intended going back in an effort to secure one fine head. The engineer said one resident on the island counted 17 in one herd and another had seen 20 together. The stalkers are to be invited to try their lu£k again.
