TAURANGA HOSPITAL

NO MORE DIPHTHERIA The monthly meeting of the Tauranga Hospital Board was held today, Mr. T. Lockheacl presiding. The medical superintendent reported an average of 32 patients for the month, and that the diphtheria epidemic is over. Tile committee set up regarding the farming of the hospital area submitted a report showing an estimated profit of £IOO. The report was adopted, and the chairman and secretary authorised to put the scheme into operation. It was decided to draw the attention of the Minister l’or Health to the necessity for making provision for the treating of chronic and senile decay cases, and to suggest that certain buildings at Rotorua, now not in use, be provided for this purpose. It was resolved to inform the Health Department that the board was not in favour of hospital boards taking over tuberculosis sanatoriums. Contributing bodies wrote objecting to a proposed loan of £1,500.
