Chief-Detective Cummings, in applying for a remand, said that other charges were pending. Towsend: I intend to plead guilty to all the charges, and I don’t want to be remanded. They won’t let me work up at Mount Eden, and that’s worse than serving a sentence. The Magistrate, Mr. F . K. Hunt: They’ll let you work if you ask them. The Chief-Detective: The trouble is that he finds things different from seni fences in Australia.
