CAR OVERTURNS

OCCUPANTS UNHURT STREET COLLISION AT NEW PLYMOUTH (From Our Own Correspondent) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday. The occupants of two motor-cars had a miraculous escape from injury in a collision which occurred at the intersection of Devon Street and Mangarei Road to-day. Closed cars belonging to Mr. W. S. lCnuckey, of Waitara, and Mr. J. Bridgeman, of Mangarei Road, were badly damaged, the former being overturned. Mr. Knuckey, his wife and family, were in the first car, which was approaching New Plymouth. Mr. Bridgeman was alone. The left-hand rear wheel of Mr. Knuckey’s car struck the kerbing and collapsed. The car then turned over. Mr. Bridgeman’s car was turned round and came to a standstill facing toward New Plymouth. The running board and rear mudguard on the driver's side of Mr. Knuckey’s car were torn away and the windscreen and several windows were broken. It was possible to open the doors of the overturned car and relase the occupants without difficulty. They escaped without a scratch. The intersection is very narrow and it has ben the scene of several accidents.
