Railways only just managed to retain the Ansell Cup at Association football on Saturday, when they played a drawn game with the challengers. Huntly Thistle. Only in the last 30 seconds did Richardson net for Railways and level the scores. The South Auckland championship will be decided next Saturday.
Lower Waikato inflicted defeat on Hamilton to the extent of 19 points to 0 in the Ratakihi Shield match at Ngaruawahia on Saturday.
