PAKURANGA HUNT

THE ARDMORE MEET ’•’The Pakuranga Hunt Club met at Ardmore on Saturday, but owing no the wet weather prevailing hat were very scarce. After working the properties of Messrs. Burnside, Mullin and Geo. McCullough, a quarry was put up, but owing to the rain the hounds failed to pick up the scent. On moving off to new country, Mr. Rex Leighton, of Papatoetoe, mounted on Rory, struck a sapling, both horse and rider falling. Mr. Leighton received a broken collar-bone, and the horse, which broke a leg, had to be destroyed. The accident, combined with the weather, put a damper on the hunt, the followers adjourning t.o the Ardmore Hall, where afternoon tea was provided.
