BOY SWIMMER BREAKS OWN RECORD

OLD’S VICTORY IN U.S.A. Press Association. DUNEDIN, To-day. Cabled advice received here announces that Leslie Olds, holder of the all boys’ swimming titles of New Zealand, who went to the U.S.A. with his father, won the 50 yards championship at Lakeside, San Diego, California, in 27 3-ssec, or 2 2-ssec better than his New Zealand record.

Leslie Olds is a son of Mr. Bert Olds. His father, a fine swimmer and instructor, was in charge of the municipal baths at Dunedin.

Not long before leaving for America, the lad fell from a tree and broke a leg. It was thought that this accident might spoil the future career of a boy who plainly was a coming champion, but evidently he is swimming as well as ever. His brother, Douglas Olds, is also a speedy swimmer.
