TE AWAMUTU POWER BOARD The Bank of New Zealand informed the Te Awamutu Electric-Power Board at yesterdays meeting that its overdraft had been fixed at £12,000, de Tlte d members present were: Messrs. J. F. Johnson, president, J. G. Su *, ne * land, G. Spinley, A. L. st hrey, S. C. Macky, J. c. Montefiore and J. B. T Tmember of the Thames Valley Power Board desired particulars of the community lighting system and the matter was referred to the secretary. A claim for £ls was put m by Mr. R. Haliburton, Pokuru, as compensation for the loss of a cow electrocuted bv a broken wire. He alleged undoe delay in cutting off the power after the wire had fallen. The secretary stated the claim had been forwarded to the New Zealand Insurance Company, carrying the risk. The latter asked for full particulars regarding the electrocution. , The financial position was given as: Power fund account, £ 8,541 0s lOd debit; loan account, £2,780 10s credit. Accounts held over from last month and presented this month totalled £3,499 15s 2d.
The revenue for July was given as follows: General lighting, Seating and meter rents, £7BB 19s 8d; power, £286 3s lOd; penalties and sundries, £22 16s 8d; streets lighting, £36; total, £1,134 0s 2d.
The consumers’ finance accounts showed (receipts) interest and penalties, £291 2s lid; debtors, installations and service lines, £23,611 4s 9d; Public Trustee loan. £15.000; total. £38,902 7s Bd.
The chairman gave a brief outline of the business transacted at the conference of local body delegates recently held in Te Kuiti on the subject of rating. Referring to the amount of revenue lost to some local bodies, notably county councils, he stated that Waipa County had lost in the past five years £1,405 in this connection: Waitomo County, £14,000; Otorohanga County. £3,700; Otorohanga Town District, £100; Waiapu County, £29,000; and other local bodies were even worse.
