MORE DOMAIN LAND FOR CITY COUNCIL
40 ACRES AT PUKEMATEKIO Negotiations- between the Government and the Auckland City Council, in reference to the scoria reserve at the trig at Pukematekio, and about 40 acres on the slopes of the mountain, have resulted in the Lands Department definitely offering the council control of the land. Last evening the council was advised that the land could <not be transferred to the city as a gift, but the Minister had agreed to the area being reserved for recreation purposes, making it possible for it to be brought under the Reserves and Domains Act, and added to the Waitakerei Domain, controlled by the council acting as a Domain Board. The offer was accepted, and the thanks of the council are to be conveyed to the Minister of Lands.
