ON PUPUKE’S SHORES
PROPERTY OWNERS’ GRIEVANCE NOT ALLOWED TO BUILD (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Compensation is desired by the owners of property on the shore of Lake Pupuke, who, as a result of the restrictions imposed by the Health Department, are prevented from building on their properties. Mr. A. Harris gave notice to-day to ask the Minister of Health what steps he intends to take, and explained that, acting under instructions from the Health Department, the Takapuna Borough Council has for some years past refused building permits affecting properties abutting on the lake, thus depriving landowners of the right to build on their land, while at the same time they are mulcted in rates and taxes on such property which, as a result of the Health Department’s prohibition, is really valueless.
