BETTER ROADS

PETITION TO MINISTER Press Association. PAHIATUA, To-day. Headed by the Akitio County chairman, a petition has been signed by more than 80 settlers urging the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. IC,. S. Williams, to proceed with the widening and improvement of roads from Makuri to Mangatiti and Rakunui. The petition backs up a request by the chamber of commerce that unemployed be utilised for the work. The proposed roads will give better access to the Pahiatua railway, and will thus assist the lamb and wool trade.
