AUCKLAND GUN CLUB

MATCH AGAINST HAMILTON FINE FORM SHOWN There was a record attendance at the series of matches held by the Auckland Gun Club at Panmure yesterday. The first clay bird match, all off 15 yards, was divided by A. Dobson, A. E. Macredie, H. E. Knight, A. Hannigan, F. Hazard, of Auckland, and R. McMiken and G. Peach, of Hamilton, with a possible of 10. There were 25 competitors. The challenge match, of 11 men a side, with 15 birds, was won by Auckland, with a score of 148 to 136. The detailed scores are as follow:

A special sparrow shoot for the Hamilton visitors was divided by C. Seddon (18yds), R. McMiken (18yds), and R. T. Reid (15yds). There were 12 competitors. A 10-bird clay match was divided by H. There were 33 competitors. The Auckland members shot off for Mr. Tisdall’s trophy. A. Hannigan missed his thirteenth bird, H. Clinch his twenty-fifth, F. Hazard his thirtieth, and A. Macredie his forty-third. A. Dobson got his forty-third and won the trophy. This made a succession of 68 kills out of 68 shots for A. Dobson, all but one being with the first barrel. A. E. Macredie secured 66 out of 68. These were two great performances.

A double rise match (clays), attracted 21 entries. It was won by J. Benson, of Napier (14yds), with 13 out of 16. W. O’Kane, of Hamilton (13yds), was second with 12. The trophies were presented by Mr. G. Baildon, Mayor of Auckland, who also presented Mr. Jack Williamson with a handsome barometer and silver tea service as a mark of appreciation from the Auckland Club for the free use of his grounds for over 20 years, and also for the valuable services he has rendered to the club. A return match with Hamilton will take place shortly at Ruakura.
