SHOP-ASSISTANTS REJECT PROPOSAL Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, To-day. At a meeting last evening of shop assistants, convened by the district organiser, for the purpose of forming a Shop Assistants' Union, the proposal was rejected by 61 votes to 3, after a somewhat heated discussion.

Knocked Down by Car. —As the result of being knocked down by a motor-car in Park Road about 7 p.m. yesterday, Mr. Boyd Thompson, of 64 Seafield View Road, Grafton, was cut slightly on the head. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital. It was stated this morning that he has practically recovered. -
