WHANGAREI CRUISERS’ ANNUAL MEETING
VERY SUCCESSFUL YEAR (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Wednesday. Grea: progress was reported at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Cruising Chib, which held its annual meeting last evening. The retiring commodore, Mr. J. Palmer, who presided, stressed the need of better dinghy accommodation and congratulated Mr. It. Foote on his work in installing the lockers. Close racing had been seen in the club's regattas. Laloma had won the Alisa Craig Cup tor launch racing. Officers were elected as follow:—Patron, Mr. A. Murdoch; commodore, Mr. R. Dempster; vice-commodore, Mr. H. Pickmerc; rear-commodore, Mr. W. Skinner; secretary, Mr. T. J. Simmonds; treasurer, Mr. A. lv. McLeod; committee, Messrs. V. Reynolds, R. R. Wilkinson, J. Palmer, and C. .Charlesworth. It was decided to extend the ramp from the club sheds to low-water mark, to facilitate the removal of dinghies. It was resolved that the harbour board be asked to make provision for a landing stage foj* the local launches. The opening of the season was fixed for Labour Day.
Fall From Bus. —Mr. Bert Campbell, agecl 41, of 52 Ponsonby Road, fell off a bus in Great North Road, Grey Lynn., about 7 o’clock last evening. He was treated for concussion of the brain and other head injuries by Dr. O. Fyffe Lamb, of Grey Lynn, and taken to the Auckland Hospital. His condition is not serious.
