TARIFF ON MAIZE
VIEWED WITH GREAT ALARM Press Association. GISBORNE, Wednesday. Merchants view the reduction of the duty on maize with considerable alarm. Maize-growing in Poverty Bay has greatly increased in recent years until it has become a substantial branch of farming. The Merchants’ Association is calling a meeting to protest against the proposed reduction.
