“FINISH MY NOVEL”

DEAD AUTHOR’S REQUEST A SPIRIT MESSAGE LONDON, September 1. Addressing a gathering of Spiritualists, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle declared that through the mediumship of the violinist, Florizel Von Reuter, the famous author, Joseph Conrad, had sent a message asking him to finish his (Conrad’s) novel “Suspense.” “Neither myself nor Von Reuter,” said Sir Arthur, “had heard of the book, which has been found, however, already published, though unfinished, thus rendering completion impossible. It is curious that Conrad should have been unaware of the publication of the book. “We then received a strange message, written backwards, which we discovered meant ‘Boz is buzzing about,' which revealed the presence of Charles Dickens, who was referring to his unfinished novel, ‘The Mystery of Edwin Drood.’ “ ‘lf you make good with Conrad’s hook,* said Dickens,* Sir Arthur continued, “*I will put you on to Edwin Drood.* He said, also, that he was ttot dead, but was hiding.”
