GREYHOUND RACES.—The craze for greyhound racing is spreading to such an extent in England that a company has been formed to tour the country with a portable dog-racing track including an electrical plant for running the hare, and a grandstand. It will be kept in the smaller towns for one day and in the larger centres for a week. —A. and N.Z. STRIKERS KILLED.—The Berlin correspondent of the “E'&ily .Mail” reports that a group of e ectrical workers at Leningrad went on strike ur.d demanded an eight-hours day and an English Saturday. Troops were turned out. and they killed 15 of the strikers and wounded 50. Work was then resumed.—A- and N.Z. AIRMEN’S ESCAPE.—Two airmen had a miraculous escape at Brescia. Their two machines wore flying in clouds l,oool’t. up when suddenly they collided head-on and fell interlocked on to an airdrome, where they burst into flames. Fortunately four mechanics were able to drag the aviators clear of the burning planes, and they sustained only minor injuries.—A. and N.Z. GREEK FINANCES.—The Financial Committee of the League of Nations recommends a loan of .£9,000.000 to Greece, which would be guaranteed Ty an estimated revenue of £5,000,000, which is controlled by the International Finance Committee at Athens. Greece undertakes to stabilise her currency to balance her Budget and to reform the administration of the Treasury.—A. and N.Z.
