McKenzie, assistant-engineer o f the Public Works Department, said it was true 20 men had been dismissed. All of them were single, except two. There have beer police complaints with regard to the conduct at the camp allegedly due to drinking. Married men from the Tawa Flat undertaking were being sent to R: mutaka. Mi. McKenzie said he thought the statement attributed to the engineer regirding the putting oft of all single men would be found to lack confirmation. A message from Carterton yesterday stated tha. . 32 men had been put ofi the unemployed relief works at Rimutaka Hill Tli v trouble was said to have originated through an alleged attach by a ganger on a small man, who si bsequently refused to work under the ganger. After the dismissals only three men were left to look alter the camp.
