INCREASED POPULATION CAMPAIGN BEING ORGANISED That the time has arrived for a joint effort by the boroughs of Devonport and Takapuna to attempt to direct a stream of population shorowards was the unanimous decision of a meeting of the Devonport Borough Council, Waitemata Chamber of Commerce and Devonport Traders’ Association held last evening. Mr. E. Aldridge, Mayor of Devonport, presided and various speakers considered that the scale of passenger transport charges in Auckland City to operate from October 1 would be so much higher than the rates to the North Shore that the lalter are a should exploit the opportunity to the utmost.
