PUKEKOHE FIRE BOARD
FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS The Pukekohe Fire Board met yesterday, there being present Messrs. J. Routly, chairman; W. G. Bell, H. M. Didsbury, G. T. Parvin, and J. Roulston. The borough council advised that the matter of extending water mains was under consideration and a loan proposal in connection therewith would be placed before the ratepayers at an early elate. Two applications for membership of the brigade were approved, the present strength now being 14. In accordance with notice previously given, Mr. Didsbury moved that the resolution deciding to instal a “white” fire-alarm system be rescinded, and it wag agreed to make inquiries as to the installing of a “Kirkby” system as an alternative. The chairman and Mr. Didsbury were deputed to arrange for the installation of a 2 h.p. or larger-sized siren, provided that the same could be utilised in connection with the “Kirkby” alarm. The purchase 500 ft. of fire hose at Is TSd a fbot, was approved. The chairman and the secretary were authorised to lease the fire station site for a period of twelve months.
Bowling Tourney. Postponed. —The Dominion Road Bowling Club’s winter tournament has been postponed until next Saturday.
