TAKES CHELMSFORD STAKES MERRY MINT SECOND COMMENDATION OUT OF A PLACE By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright SYDNEY, Sunday. Sydney Tattersalls Club’s meeting at Randwick yesterday was held in line, cold weather. Showers that fell overnight and during the forenoon made the race track slightly heavy. Though New Zealand horses carried off fewer prizes than in the previous week at Warwick Farm, Limerick added to his reputation by annexing the principal event, the Chelmsford Stakes, in the easiest style, cantering home from the New Zealand Derby candidate Merry Mint. It was a convincing win, though Merry Mint ran well. Although New Zealand horses ran in all the other events .none was placed. The critic of the “Sun” says: “Commendation was a great disappointment in the Chelmsford Stakes, and so far as he has-gone in Sydney he has not lived up to expectations. Everybody expected him to e*xtend Limerick. Far from that he was beaten at the turn. A month’s work will doubtless help
