ELECTRIC POWER FOR EAST COAST BAYS
ADDRESS TO RATEPAYERS THE extension of reticulation to the East Coast bays between Takapuna and Deep Creek is regarded by the Waitemata Power Board as a payable proposition. If the loan is carried in November, and 200 more applications for current come in the bays may have power by June next. Addressing the ratepayers of the East Coast and districts at Brown’s Bay on Saturday evening, Mr. A. E. Greenslade put the position from the board’s point of view. An annual revenue of about £S4O was required to cover capital and operating charges to carry the lines to Brown’s Bay. and £5,000 had been allotted from the £ SO.OOO loan to be sought in November. This would extend the 11,000-volt, line from Castor Bay to Brown’s, serving at the same time the intermediate bays. If early # application was made the extension could be made immediately the loan was carried. Current would be available in June next if the required number of signed applications came in to guarantee the board against loss and if the loan proposals should be carried. Mr. Bromley Smith, the Waitemata Power Board’s commercial agent, stated that provision had been made in the proposed loan to carry the lines to Beep Creek.
