VISITING CYCLISTS HONOURED BY A.A.A.A.
BANQUET AT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE The Chamber of Commerce presented •in animated scene on Saturday evqping when 200 athletes, past and present attended the banquet held in honour of the visiting Wellington and Canterbury cyclists by the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. In responding to the toast of the NZA.AA.,” Mr. Robert Phillips, hon. secretary of the Auckland Centre, pointed cut that if at times the Auckland Centre could not see eye to eye with Wellington, that was no reason why it should fall out with its governing body Auckland had delegates on the Xew Zealand Council, and they were instructed how to vote on all matters. Any ruling which came from Wellington, therefore, was the wish of the majority of delegates throughout the Dominion and Auckland must bow to it. .Mr L G. Lukey, of Canterbury, and Mr. J. Carswell, of Wellington, in replying 1:0 the toast of "The Visitors,” were high in their praise of J. ti. Wade’s brilliant win in the New Zealand 50-mile amateur cycling road race championship.
