SOLDIERS’ CONCERT
POOR PUBLIC SUPPORT The concert under the auspices of the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association in the Town Hall last night in aid of partially disabled soldiers was poorly attended. A march “Palmer House” and a selection from “No. No, .Nanette,” played by the Auckland Artillery Band, opened a good programme. Mr. Frank Sutherland, Mr. Jean Deilore, Mr. Birrell O’Malley, Miss S. R. Stacpoole, Miss Ina Thompson, and the Lyric Quartette, contributed songs. A violin and piano duo was played by Miss Margaret Stoddard and Mr. Cyril Towsey. Miss Mavis Grevatt gave a harp solo, and Mr. Francis Bate a cello solo. Mesdames M. Woolcott, Paul and C. Grooves, and Messrs. Baird. Paul and. Plumer demonstrated modern dances.
Humorous items were given by Mr. A. McHlwain and Mr. Dan Flood. A juvenile dance was performed by Master Neil Arrow and Miss Joan McAlpine, and an acrobatic dance by Misses Thora Campbell and Plazel Miller.
