RETURNS SHOW DECREASE The returns of infectious diseases in the Auckland health district show an appreciable decline from 217 in July to 198 in August. The figures for the four parts of the district are as follow: Central Auckland. —Scarlet fever 1, diphtheria 31, tuberculosis 11, influenza (pneumonic) 3, pneumonia 13, erysipelas 5, puerperal fever 10, eclampsia 4, tetanus 1. ophthalmia neonatorum 1, dysentery 1, trachoma 1, food poisoning 1. Total: S 3 cases. North Auckland.—Scarlet fever 1. diphtheria 3,. enteric fever 2, tuberculosis 7, influenza (pneumonic) 4. pneumonia 7. erysipelas 2, puerperal fever 1. Total: 27 cases. South Auckland. —Scarlet fever 7, diphtheria 11. enteric fever 6, tuberculosis 6, pneumonia 16, erysipelas 3. puerperal fever 1, hydatids 1. Total: 51 cases. Coromandel-Opotiki.—Scarlet fever 3. diphtheria 11. tuberculosis 5. infimenza (pneumonic), 2, pneumonia 15, puerperal fever, ordinary, 1. Total: 37 cases. * — jU
