MORE BUSES AVAILABLE That the North Shore Transport Company is now running 21 buses, which are licensed to carry a total of 666 passengers, was the statement made by the manager of the company, Air. W. H. Taylor. before a subcommittee of the Takapuna Borough Council, discusesd at a council meeting last, evening. There are an additional four buses, with a carrying capacity of 113 passengers, being altered to suit the requirements of the Public Works Department. When another six buses, which have been ordered from England, arrive, the seating capacity of the fleet will be equal to that of 15 tramcars, and there will be accommodation for a total of 1.032 passengers. It is anticipated that this fleet will be sufficient to cope with the summer traffic. , In order to -secure greater punctuality in the keeping of time-tables, clocks are being installed at various points along the bus routes. Drivers will be resuired to keep a waybill showing the time taken on each journey. It is intended to paint the poles at bus stops, in addition to erecting the usual signs.* The stop at the gashouse in Bayswater is to be moved to Beach Road, at the request of the majority of the residents. A stop at Ocean View Road is under consideration by the transport committee. Tram rails are in a dangerous state at several places. The borough council intends to ask the ferry company to have the rails removed or covered The engineer and traffic inspector, who have gone thoroughly into the question, state that the traffic arrangements for Takapuna are quite satisfactory.
