ROADS AND COUNCILS

The Hangarir-i Road was awash at two places, but recent reports by wire indicate that the flood is subsiding. It is not expected that there will be any difficulty as the fine weather is enabling all the water to drain away. The Public Works Department has advised that £SOO will be available foV the metalling of five miles of the Wai-takaruru-Morrinsville Road. The recent complaint of the A.A.A. 'regarding the curves at the bottom of Ayr Street has been before the city engineer. The engineer is of opinion that as Ayr Street is not a main street, and as the grades and curves are the same as have always existed, the street need not be altered. The reason the association brought the matter up was not because the grades and curves, were considered excessive, but because they are unnecessary.
