Abandoning tour. — Fuesdale, secretary, St. George Club.” In view of the fact that the Auckland League had guaranteed £4OO for the St. George team’s visit to Auckland, Mr. Ivan Culpan, secretary of the Auckland League, received a big surprise when he received this cablegram from Sydney abandoning the tour of the St. George team. Mr. Culpan said that the £4OO would cover any loss against the matches in Auckland, and it was not understood whv financial assistance was sought elsewhere. Mr. Culpan stated he had. sent a cablegram asking what amount was required to induce the St. George team to come here, as all arrangements had been made for its visit.
