WELL-KNOWN SINGER DEAD

LATE MR. J. W. RYAN Mr. J. W. Ryan, who was well known in Auckland musical circles, died on Saturday at the age of 50. The possessor of a fine bass voice, Mr. Ryan was an original member of the Lyric Quartette when formed in 1903, and was actively associated with that body until ill-health intervened. A member of the Orphans’ Club for about 25 years, he was also connected with the Savage Club. At the meeting of the Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening the chairman, Mr. G. W.
